The "The museum keepers" project is planned as a series of movie about Ukrainian museums destroyed by the war and museums that are on the verge of disappearing. The first film was shot in Ivankiv, where on the second day of the war, a rocket hit the local history museum, which housed a collection of works by Ukrainian artists Maria Prymachenko, Hanna Veres, and other. The series will reveal the multifaceted work of museums and their contribution to the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage. We can see by ourselves how these incredible people day by day are working under the missiles in order to safe even the smallest piece of our ancestor’s life.
Despite the war, culture is an important component of society. It prevents our posterity from becoming people without any national consciousness and self understanding. So, one of the goal of this project is to open for everyone previously unknown opportunities in traveling around Ukraine, as well as to introduce and draw attention to various museums and cultural reserves.

Director’s motivation
Throughout my entire conscious life, I was fascinated by two things - history and art. And since I started going to various museums as a child, I was amazed by why it’s usually in such terrible conditions. The year 2022 has come and a war has begun in Ukraine... In the very first days of the war, irreparable damage was done to museums and art objects, which struck me extremely hard. For me it became a clear understanding of how fragile art is and how much it needs to be protected. Then came the idea of a cycle of films that will show people working in museums, as well as the museums themselves. In these films, the main characters are both the museum itself and the people who work in it.
War is an extremely terrible thing, but it becomes even more terrible when it begins to erase history and culture, and it never ends well. That is why these things need to be preserved and documented.
